Wine Advocate 91 points Vinous The NV Brut Nature offers lovely immediacy in an up-front style that drinks well early. Apricot pit, hazelnut, sage, mint, savory herbs and lightly honeyed notes are all super-expressive. Soft, resonant and engaging, the Brut Nature possesses striking depth and soft contours. Although especially complex, the Brut Nature is quite delicious. So often, Brut Nature Champagnes can be quite aggressive. Here readers will find an open, giving Champagne that is ready to give considerable pleasure. The current release is a blend of equal parts 2012 and 2011 vintages, blended from parcels in Festigny and Le Breuil. Bottled with no dosage.
View from the Cellar 92+ points: Christophe Mignon is a superb producer in the village of Festigny who specializes in pinot meunier, which comprised one hundred percent of his Brut Nature bottling, making this a Blanc de Noirs bottling, though this term does not appear on the label. This wine is a blend from thirty-five plus year-old vines, with the wine having gone through complete malolactic fermentation. The bouquet is a superb blend of green apple, brioche, a touch of tart orange, a beautifully complex base of soil, esthery pinot meunier floral tones and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and really beautifully balanced, with refined mousse, bright, seamless acids, excellent focus and grip and a very long, poised and impressively complex finish. This is a beautifully made wine!
