WS 91 points: Deliciously ripe, with plump-textured plum sauce, fig and red currant fruit flavors backed by bright minerality and shades of vanilla, cedar and cocoa. Underlying juiciness rides throughout. Drink now through 2018. This Chateauneuf-du-Pape, from the Southern Rhone Valley is 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. It is an intense ruby color with a complex bouquet of licorice and fruits. It is rich on the palate and develops into intense aromas of red fruits (black currant, strawberry, cherry), refined tannins and a very distinctive character. Serve with hearty dishes, venison stew and Provencale cuisine. |
