Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 90 points:
Pale yellow. Lemon curd, quince, white flowers, honey and vanilla on the fragrant nose. Taut, refreshingly bitter citrus pith and toasty lees flavors give way to richer melon and peach with air, with honeysuckle and ginger notes adding complexity. A pungent, waxy note carries through the smoky expansive finish.
Creamy texture. Really does taste rather like clotted cream! Flattering.
Alain Thiénot’s non vintage is ripe, rich and full-bodied—a departure from typical house style. It has significant weight on the palate with yellow- and citrus-fruit flavors, and a soft, generous feel. The finish is crisp, exhibiting acidity laced with lime.
Almond paste and yeast notes mix with flavors of cut apple, smoke, honey, sea salt and biscuit in this lightly creamy, mouthwatering version, with moderate length.
