The estate bottled Douro Reserva 2004 was made from mixed varietal plantings of 70 year old vines. The very low yielding vines and 20 months ageing in French and American oak barrels has resulted in a complex, powerful wine with great intensity and a richly textured palate. Well balanced by a firm tannic structure, it shows a very long finish. WS 93 points: "A ripe, full-bodied red packed with dark fruity flavors as well as plenty of paprika. Powerful, with a dense core of spicy elements that follow through to the long, cream-filled finish." |
