Bordeaux's Chateau Bellevue is nestled in the AOC Lussac St Emilion. The property dates back to the 18th century, and the proprietor, the youthful André Chatenoud, is an old-world style vigneron seemingly more at home in his cellars than probably anywhere else. In the vineyard, organic methods are used whenever possible. Groundcover is mown but not plowed into the soil. Pruning is done in the Guyot fashion and harvesting is done manually. This wine,
like most of the right bank wines, is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. |
