International Wine Cellar 92 points: "Inky violet. Intensely floral scents of blackberry, cassis, mocha and candied licorice. Deep and chewy, with firmly structured dark berry and cherry flavors accompanied by cured tobacco and anise. Really stains the palate, finishing on a strong licorice note, with outstanding length." As the owner of Vine Street, part of Ronnie Sanders' passion for wine is rooted in the endless discovery and daring that is innate in the pursuit of unknown and fascinating wines. To that end, each year, Ronnie searches out some of the world's most renown winemakers to collaborate on a project that exemplifies and pushes everyone's creativity. This year's project is the work of David Powell from Torbreck Vintners. Powell is well known as an innovator who takes his inspiration from the Old World (specifically France) putting his own spin on the classics. These blends at first seem odd and possibly bordering on heresy, but take their queue from the irrefutable king of syrah, Hermitage, and the appellations of the Northern Rhone.
