Lavender and blueberry jump out of the glass and are complimented by hints of white pepper on the palate.
Syrah grapes from the Firepeak Vineyard provide winemaker, Christian Roguenant of Baileyaba Winery, carte blanche when it comes to making the highest quality, cool climate Syrah. Located in the Edna Valley at the foot of Islay Mountain, the last in a chain of extinct volcanoes known as the Seven Sisters, the dark vineyard soils are known as the "dirt of the devil." There are three clones planted here, and Christian blends them each vintage as he sees fit. The consistent result is a velvety, well structured wine, reminiscent of a true Syrah from the Northern Rhone region in France.
