Wine Enthusiast 88 points: This Pinot combines power with elegance in a cost-effective way, making it a great buy. It will stand against more expensive wines, with its silky tannins and dry, interesting cherry, raspberry and sandalwood flavors.
Wine Spectator 87 points: Offers a savory mix of dried berry, sage, cedar and mineral flavors. Medium-bodied and well-balanced, ending with dried herb notes.
Winemaker's notes: The 2009 growing season began with a dry spring followed by a temperate summer. The vintage had low yields but produced excellent grapes. The vines were harvested in September and early October, with ten percent of the harvest undergoing whole-berry fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity flavors of the grape. The wine was then aged in newer French oak barrels for 11 months. This vintage of our Pinot Noir serves up a delicious array of cherry and fresh fruit flavors, combined with spicy notes and smooth tannins that make for an exceptionally enjoyable wine. Flavorful aromas of fresh raspberries and cherries followed by subtle notes of vanilla and cola; excellent acid balance with smooth tannins and a lingering finish. This refreshing, fruity Pinot Noir is wonderfully versatile on the table and can be served with a wide range of foods, including pork, chicken, lamb and salmon.
